Yard Measuring and Design Planning

Accurate measurements and a simple design plan for the whole yard: lawn, turf, beds, paths and drainage on one page.

Good yards are planned, not patched together. Where does the lawn end and the bed begin? Where does the water run? Which area should be sod and which should be turf? A simple plan answers these before anything is dug, which saves money and avoids regrets. It also makes quotes easier to compare, because everyone is bidding the same plan.

We measure the property carefully, with a measuring wheel and laser tools, and sketch the layout with areas, slopes, trees, utilities and obstacles marked. From there we discuss designs with you: shapes, curves, borders, paths, mulch beds and transitions between lawn and turf. We note drainage and irrigation, mark the plan with paint or flags on site so you can see it and give you a clear drawing with quantities. You can use the plan with us or with any other contractor.

Measured accurately

Wheels and lasers give real quantities, which means the right amount of sod, turf and soil and fewer surprises.

Marked on site

Paint and flags show where the lawn, beds and paths will go, so you can walk it before work begins.

Drainage and utilities

We note downspouts, low spots, irrigation and buried lines so the design works with what is already there.

How it works

Our process, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Call and schedule

You tell us about your yard and what you want, a new lawn, a fix for a worn one or a turf area, and we set a visit that fits your day.

  2. 02

    Visit and measure

We walk the property, measure each area, check sun, shade, soil and drainage and take photos of anything of note.

  3. 03

    Plan and explain

We explain your options for sod, turf or both, and give you a written scope with quantities, timing and clear pricing.

  4. 04

    Prepare the ground

We mark utilities, remove old turf, set the grade, loosen and improve the soil and build the base before anything new goes down.

  5. 05

    Install

We lay sod in tight, staggered rows or install turf over a compacted stone base, with clean edges and tight seams.

  6. 06

    Finish and care

We clean up, roll or brush the surface, walk you through the watering and care plan and set a reminder for your next check.
