Sod Calculator: How Much Sod Do I Need?

Enter the length and width of each lawn area to see the square feet, the pallets and rolls to order and a sensible waste allowance.

These tools give planning-level estimates from typical values and the details you enter. They are not quotes, designs or engineering, and results depend on your actual yard, soil, drainage, sun, site conditions and local rules. Only a site visit can confirm what a project needs, and we give you a written scope and price before any work begins.

How it works

Four quick steps.

  1. 01

    Measure each area

Use a tape or a measuring wheel for length and width.

  2. 02

    Pick the shape

Rectangle, triangle or circle for each section.

  3. 03

    Set the waste

Choose an allowance for cuts, curves and beds.

  4. 04

    Read the order

Pallets, rolls and the square feet you will cover.

Tips

  • Measure each separate section on its own and add rows for every one.
  • Curves and beds take more waste than a plain rectangle.
  • Confirm the pallet coverage with your supplier, since it varies by farm.
